Is Penguin 4.0 coming in January 2016?
We know It’s been over a year now but there hasn’t been any official Penguin update from Google since October 14, 2014. Webmaster trends analyst Gary Illyes was quoted as saying:
“The new Penguin update will make webmaster’s life easier a bit and for most people it will make it a delight.”
In early December Google Announced “With the holidays upon us, it looks like the penguins won’t march until next year.”
Recently Gary Illyes responded to @elkeesmedia on Twitter saying he has not set release date for the Penguin 4.0 algorithm. He did says “the penguins are getting closer to freedom,” implying we are almost there. He later explained “I realize that’s not what you were looking for, but we can’t release something we haven’t tested extensively.”

Google is confident about Penguin and also believes that the next Penguin 4.0 update is expected to be real-time, meaning as soon as Google discovers the links to your site, be they bad or good links, the Penguin algorithm will analyze those links in real time, and ranking changes should happen in almost real time.
May be Google gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling and their way of saying and wishing the New Year by not releasing the update. May be this new algorithm could make life easier for “most” people, but what about the others? That leaves a large pool of people who will potentially be unaffected or less than delighted. In fact, some people will lose their businesses altogether and go bankrupt, if history is any indicator of what lies ahead.
Do you think it will happen in January? ?
